The SQUIREL Story
Every business starts somewhere. Ours started with a garage, a lifetime spent around workshops, and a moment that forced us to make a choice.
At the end of 2025, during the merger of Forseven and McLaren Automotive, I found myself facing the reality that many people across the business—including talented colleagues and close friends I'd worked alongside for years—would soon be affected by redundancy. Like many people in the automotive industry, it was a period of uncertainty. But it also gave me the opportunity to reflect on something I'd wanted to do for a long time. Build something of my own.
For more than 15 years, I've worked in the automotive sector, progressing through multiple Head of Department positions and most recently serving as Head of Vehicle Development. Throughout that journey, I've spent thousands of hours in workshops, garages, development centres and test facilities. One thing always stood out to me. The best spaces weren't necessarily the biggest or the most expensive. They were the ones that were organised, adaptable and designed around the people using them.
Whether you're building vehicles, restoring classics, working on motorcycles or tackling weekend DIY projects, the workspace matters. When everything has a place, you work better, faster and with more enjoyment. Over the years, I became fascinated by workshop organisation and storage systems. Yet I was constantly frustrated by the same problem: most solutions forced people into a fixed layout. Once installed, they rarely evolved as your needs changed.
Garages change.
Projects change.
People's hobbies change.
So why shouldn't storage systems change too? That question became the foundation of SQUIREL.
Together with my wife Lisa—my partner in business and in life—we set out to create something different. A modular storage system that can evolve with the people using it. Something that starts small if needed, expands over time, and adapts to new tools, new projects and new ideas. Every SQUIREL system is designed around a simple principle:

We're still at the beginning of our journey, but we're incredibly proud to have taken the leap. What started as conversations around our kitchen table has become a business built on the values we care about most: quality, flexibility, craftsmanship and continuous improvement. We're also grateful to the many colleagues, mentors and friends who supported us throughout our careers and encouraged us to take this step. Their trust, advice and belief in us helped turn an idea into reality.
