Mobile Storage That Works Where You Do

How mobile modular storage improves workflow across vehicle workshops

When demonstrating our modular storage system at a local camper van conversion company, we wanted to showcase how our caster wheel attachments could improve day-to-day workshop efficiency.

For the demonstration, we assembled The Starter Kit with The One Up—two of SQUIREL's most popular modules. Fitted with caster wheels, the system was loaded with heavy electrical components, including leisure batteries and cable reels. Traditionally, these items would be stored on fixed shelving away from the vehicle, requiring technicians to make repeated trips to collect parts throughout the installation.

With the storage mounted on caster wheels, everything could be positioned directly alongside the vehicle as work progressed. Heavy components remained within easy reach, reducing unnecessary movement, minimising fatigue, and creating a more efficient workflow.

An additional benefit quickly became apparent. By storing equipment within the shelving, the solid birch plywood worktop remained completely clear, providing a dedicated workspace for tools, components and assembly during the installation. Rather than simply being storage, the system became a mobile workstation that moved wherever it was needed.

For this demonstration, we selected two 450 mm modules to provide increased storage capacity. However, the modular nature of the system means the working height can be tailored to suit different applications. By replacing either—or both—modules with our 350 mm variants, users can create a lower working surface that's better suited to tasks requiring greater accessibility or a more ergonomic working position.

The result was a tidy, organised and adaptable workstation that moved with the job—bringing storage, tools and a practical work surface exactly where they were needed.
